So, the Screaming Monkeys & Sanctuary had their fall arts eXtravaganza a month ago and guess what…a friend video taped the Monkeys performance and gave me a copy and allowed me to upload it for your enjoyment.
So, sit back, relax and enjoy Richard Bechard’s Knights Around The Campfire!
Via Affirmativa is a really neat arts movement that I have been interested in for quite a while. They just released an introduction video that is quite good – both quality and what they have to say. Check it out, then check out their website (it’s quite sparse but just surf around, I’m sure you’ll find something interesting!).
Lists are fun. So are pseudo-personal lists. This is a list of actors that I admire and would love to work with. [honourable mentions are at the end]
Alan Rickman – …is such a well rounded and accomplished actor. I’ve seen several specials where other actors simply glow when they talk about working with him, and watching him in several movies lately, I realize his depth as an actor is not truly appreciated (in my opinion). Some of my favorites of his are Galaxy Quest, the Harry Potter series and Die Hard.
Maggie Smith – …I really enjoy watching the skill with which Maggie Smith engages her characters. A skill which makes me aware and at the same time makes me forget so I can simply engage the movie/film she’s in. Along with Vanessa Redgrave, Maggie Smith is a woman of distinction. These are rare in Hollywood and as such, don’t seem to be doing anything but what they want to. I admire that.
Vanessa Redgrave – …is a wonderful actress who has a very diverse portfolio – everything from Camelot to Mission Impossible. She has an air about her when she is performing that sucks me in. I love it!
Paul Bettany – …ever since I saw him as Chaucer in A Knights Tale I loved his style and humour. He is a talented actor who I believe is grossly under-appreciated. His performance in Gangster No.1 was disturbing but so well done. I very much enjoyed him in The Reckoning and A Beautiful Mind.
Sigourney Weaver – …there is no other actor (period!) in Hollywood that I would rather work with. I began my fascination with Sigourney Weaver the first time I watched Aliens (I watched the second one first…oh well). After watching her bring depth to a character in an action/sci-fi movie I was hooked. Then, as I began to watch more and more movies, I would see her occasionally – Gorillas in the Mist, Ghostbusters, Copycat. Then I watched Death and the Maiden. This movie alone made me want to act with her. Her portrayal of Paulina was so complex and colorful…I was spellbound. It helped having Stuart Wilson and Ben Kingsley to act opposite, but her performance alone was mesmerizing.
Willem Dafoe – …one of the most versatile actors I have ever watched. Sure, he’s quite quirky and bizarre, but man, can this dude act. Seeing him in The Last Temptation of Christ and Mississippi Burning is what makes me want to work with him!
Kevin Kline – …is so beautifully diverse. I like Kline’s ability to be so over the top with some of his characters, yet it works. His comedic timing and believability are what make him such an engaging presence on screen. Reasons I want to act with Kline: In & Out, Fierce Creatures and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Tim Curry – …ever since I saw him in Clue I knew that this was one very talented individual. Then to see him in The Rocky Horror Picture Show was mind blowing (in so many ways). Tim Curry is a very talented actor whom, I believe, really doesn’t get a good shot too much of the time. He really deserves more.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman – …is easily one of the best new-ish actors to be on the scene today. When I saw him in The Big Lebowski, I knew he was good; very subtle too. His style seems to be to completely forget himself in the character and actually be. My Hoffman favorites are: The Big Lebowski, Flawless, MI:3, and Capote. I can’t wait to see Doubt!

So, I’m at this conference right now with about 400 other people who are involved in street-related ministries, or are interested in street-related ministry, justice, poverty and hope.
It’s a great conference, with some amazing people. If you’re interested in learning a bit about it, head over to streetlevel.ca . You can also check out a couple blogs that others and I are keeping in regards to stuff that’s happening here:
http://wordpieces.blogspot.com is a blog featuring word art created by impressions from attendees about the workshops that they have attended.
http://www.streetlevel.ca/blog features thoughts and articles from people who attended the workshops and plenaries and who felt like contributing their thoughts. Both are open for comments from people at the conference and not. So, my friends, head over there, check them out and leave a comment if you so choose!
Some awesome news for ya’ll, especially those into the independent, alt-rock scene. The group The Dears have recently released their 5th album, Missiles. The video for their first single from it Money Babies is now up on mtv.ca. You can go directly to it at the link below:
(you can also find the director’s cut of it here: http://www.antonjosef.com/work.html. Just navigate to music videos and click on the only one there. Check out his other stuff too, it’s fun!)
See anyone familiar in it? You just might…….ME! That’s right. About a month ago, I got an e-mail from a friend of mine informing me of a call for actors for a music video. I got the role of “the thief” who steals hope from Hope Girl. The process was a blast – long but a blast nonetheless (two days of shooting, one 18 hours, the other 13).
Enjoy the vid. I personally like both equally and the lyrics and music are awesome!
So, as per my usual wandering through various RSS feeds I came across this post at InternetMonk.com and then followed their link to this video which made Jenn and me nearly throw up. Regardless of your position on the subject of Stay-At-Home Dads, this video is worth a view. Go to the link below and watch.
Deyen has been aching for a good snowfall so that he could make a snowman (or a snow Santa, depending on what mood he’s in). The other night at our friends place, he had the chance with their daughter to enjoy the wonderful, wet, good packing snow. After a good build, his 3-year-old [...] […]
Momentarily funny things are what life with young kids is about. The chance that you catch one of these moments on tape is a treasure. Below is such a moment. Levi and Jenn were having fun after Deyen went to bed horse-playing on the bed. He would simply launch himself [...] […]
