Kids say the darndest things!

// May 31st, 2010 // No Comments » // Deyen, Friends

you lookin' at me?

So, yesterday, Deyen was getting ready for bed and in the midst of it was running around in his birthday suit happy as a jay bird. Our housemate saw him let out a chuckle and said, “Hey nudey toody.” To which Deyen replied, “Hey fatty watty!”

Enter my look of “embarrassment” and “horror” while trying to contain riotous laughter boiling up from within :-)

It’s a good thing that our friend is as jovial as we (and Deyen) are (it doesn’t hurt that he’s the father of 3 as well).

Frosty takes a dive!

// March 3rd, 2010 // No Comments » // Deyen, Friends, video

Deyen has been aching for a good snowfall so that he could make a snowman (or a snow Santa, depending on what mood he’s in). The other night at our friends place, he had the chance with their daughter to enjoy the wonderful, wet, good packing snow. After a good build, his 3-year-old instincts took over and – BAM! it came down! Enjoy the carnage!

Latest Videos

// December 14th, 2009 // No Comments » // Family, Friends, Levi, Personal, video

I love to upload videos to YouTube of our boys doing things. The challenge is that I rarely find the time to do it in moderation and usually have like 3 or more to show off at once. Well, today we have two for you all to enjoy!

The first one (below) is of Levi crawling. Our little guy took on the challenge and joy of crawling much sooner than his big brother did; then again he has a greater reason to – keep up with brother!

This one is of our good friend feeding Levi some solid(ish) food. That’s right, the little gaffer has already started his solid food journey. It feels like just yesterday that we were meeting him for the first time! Man, how time flies :-)

Post-Halloween update

// November 1st, 2009 // No Comments » // Deyen, Family, Friends

Deyen was out and about for his first trick-or-treating experience! Last year he and Jenn stayed home and handed out candy to the neighbourhood kids. This year he went out in full giddy-up glory!

From Fall / Winter 2009

He was joined by one of his friends on this journey:

From Fall / Winter 2009

Together they had a blast and believe it or not, they were the ones who said that they’d had enough and called it a night (they’d only been out, like, maybe an hour…maybe). We then had some friends of ours stop by for a quick trick-or-treat visit,

His buddy even let him try on his dragon wings…

…pretty scary eh?

Well, that was our Halloween. How was yours?

Story Time!

// August 7th, 2009 // No Comments » // Deyen, Friends

Our little guy loves stories. Both to listen to and to tell. Just the other day he started actually telling stories. It usually starts with,”Hey guys, want to hear a story?” and then proceeds to be about animals and then has recently been ending with some form of headbutting of a crocodile or alligator or a dinosaur (or some mix of those).

With that said, here’s a cute video of him in the throes of storytelling!

Deyen in the pool!

// March 31st, 2009 // No Comments » // Deyen, Friends

he’s finally in the pool! it’s taken a while and many tears (he doesn’t like it, then he does, then he doesn’t etc… you get the idea). so, we’re in Ottawa last week and there’s a pool where we were staying and so, Jenn took him swimming. well, he loved it. our friend Linda basically took him from the steps where he was comfortably sitting and dangling his legs in the water, and took him around the pool. at first he was a bit unsure, but Linda (an experienced mother of 3), reassured him and he was calm. then our good friend Andrea took him and he was off and running! after that it was a small jump to JUMPING! that’s right, that’s what the video is all about. him jumping into Andrea’s arms in the pool. we loved it!

Winter Wonderment

// December 8th, 2008 // No Comments » // Deyen, Family, Friends

Today was, overall, a very good day. Deyen played outside in the snow twice today and grandma even got him his own shovel to help shovel the driveway with…he was very happy, he even started using it before we got home! Canadian Tire better be happy to see those two inches of sidewalk cleared…they better! ;)

The photos above are from our time here at my parents place. That album will eventually include photos from winter in general, but for now they are 90% from here. Enjoy.

Billy Goats Gruff

// November 27th, 2008 // No Comments » // Deyen, Friends

Deyen loves books. And we totally encourage it. We even signed him up for a reading time program at the Library and he loved it.

It’s done now, but on the last day, after the program, we were downstairs in the children’s book area and this girl came up to Deyen and asked him to read her the book he was reading, which just so happened to be one of his favs (we read it at least 3 times a day when we got it from the library) – The Three Billy Goats Gruff. I took a couple minute video of him reading to this girl…it’s pretty darn adorable.

If you like this, check out my friends video of his little girl reading to his other little girl the story of Moses.

As we’ve been vacationing in the great province of Saskatchewan, we’ve been taking plenty of pictures. Here’s a slideshow of the ones taken so far. Check this link – Saskatchewan 2008! – as often as you wish because there will be more pictures posted there over the next week and a half.
